For all of you who happen to be Wallace and Gromit fans, I urge you to go see the movie. It really is a lot of fun! Gromit is Gromit, and Wallace is Wallace, and. . . that's how things happen. There is a lot more humor that's a tad on the questionable side in the movie than I've ever seen in the the classic half-hour ones, but none of it is really all that bad. Katie and I went yesterday in the pouring rain of New York City but only after doing some laundry and getting hair cuts. By the time we got to the subway after leaving the apartment, our jeans were entirely soaked up to the knees, and our socks were soaking. We happened to leave during the downpour. Unfortunately, the lady I got knew the basics of cutting hair but really had no idea of how to style my hair, so I had to walk around the city and hang around in Starbucks looking a bit strange. Her style of styling just wasn't exactly what I was looking for. The haircut itself is alright, though.
When we got to the movie theater, we had to wait along with a whole line of people because they only had one guy working to sell tickets. So, there was a bit of waiting inline. I amused myself first by putting on my gloves (but that wasn't really for amusement; I was losing feeling in my fingers) and then by watching what the other people were going to see. I pointed out to Katie the one middle-aged guy in a trench coat, obviously right out of work who bought a ticket to Wallace and Gromit. When we finally got our tickets and ran upstairs to the theater, we found the guy there and ended up sitting behind him. The crowd in the theater were definitely die-hard fans. Everyone seemed to know the characters starting off, and everyone laughed at the jokes at the right times. It was just a fun experience. When the movie was over, the middle-aged guy turned around and smiled! He really, really amused me. What guys of our age would go by themselves to the movie theater to watch Wallace and Gromit? This gentleman was probably a business executive!
I have to say, though, that they really milk you for money here. There are matinee showings, but you pay the same price, 10.50 whatever time you go. So, for two people to go the movies, it's 21.00. It's New York, so I suppose it's to be expected. Anyway, I have to start looking for another umbrella. Mine died again.
